Back to the Underground and Street Dance Academy will be presenting 3 very special workshops. Be sure to check them out as this is the first time these guest instructors will be teaching in Toronto!

“New York Perspective” w/ Nemesis

Saturday March 29, 2008 4PM – 6PM $20

Nemesis from Breaks Kru is the winner of Best Toprock Award at City vs City 2003 [Chicago] and winner of Kings of New York in 2005 and 2006. Nemesis is a hiphop/bboy historian who has studied and documented the origin and evolution of the bboy, while promoting and preserving its history in NY. He will be teaching Toprocks and its evolution from Rocking and transition breakdowns from top to bottom and bottom to top.

If you wanted to take Eri’s Uprock workshop in Feb, then this class is definitely for you!

Beginner Breaking w/ PoeOne

Monday March 31*** 6PM – 8PM $20

*** Please note: Our regular Breaking Classes [7-8:30] will be canceled that Monday to accommodate this 2hr workshop.

Inter./Advanced Breaking w/ PoeOne

Tuesday April 1 8PM – 10PM $20

In these two workshops students will learn terms, names, new drills and most importantly new approach to help learn better form in your steps and control going in both directions, control direction changes, more patterns and variations in leg steps, top rocks, story telling, freezes, powermoves, burns, finesse, smoothness etc.

Waacking + Vogueing Workshop w/ Archie

Saturday April 12/08 11AM – 1PM $20

Archie Burnett is a legendary dancer from New York City. He’s been a part of the house, waacking and vogueing scenes from the early years in the 1970’s and as such has become a well respected force in the underground dance world. 30 yrs of dance in NYC's hottest underground clubs has made his style unique, strong and confident. Archie has taught his craft all over the world and is very excited about coming to Toronto.

His bodies of work range from music videos to features in Dance Magazines like "Dance Ink" and the Village Voice, to performance coaching for up in coming recording artists. He is currently featured in the documentary "Check Your Body At The Door" produced by dance historian Sally R Sommer Ph.D. who is widely recognized as a leading expert on dance in American popular culture, chronicling the lives and lifestyles of 6 dancers soon to be available in late 2007.

Uprocking w/ Eri

Eri [Keep It Real, Japan] is an internationally accomplished b-girl. She's trained under King Uprock and Break Easy and won the Mighty 4 Toprock Battle 2007. This class will introduce participants to the art of Uprocking. All levels welcome.

Breaking Drills w/Miracles

Miracles [Furious Styles, Arizona] has made his mark on the international bboy scene with his swift and dynamic style.He's sought after competitor, performer and instructor and his drill class will be a great workout for both novice and experienced dancers. All levels welcome.
